01 / The approach
What moves the company forward.
What is Growth Operations?
Growth Operations removes the constraints holding back the founder and the company, and acts on the opportunities that can accelerate growth. We find what matters most, set priorities, and lead implementation.
Every project must move the business toward your goals. A tidier Notion workspace or another dashboard only matters if it helps solve a real constraint or capture a meaningful opportunity.
What exactly is the Growth Install?
The Growth Install is our engagement to build five capabilities: Org Design, Operating Cadence, Business Intelligence, People & Leadership, and Founder Extraction.
We diagnose what is holding you back and where the best opportunities lie. Then an expert operator leads the agreed changes with your team and makes sure they take hold. We focus on what your company needs most.
What do you mean by “the gap”?
The gap is the work that still falls on you, even with capable media, marketing, sales, and product teams. Decisions come back to you. Priorities compete. Work stalls between departments.
We build the capabilities that help those teams work together and provide an expert operator to lead implementation.
What is The Uncomfortable Truth?
It is the diagnostic that starts every engagement: what is happening, why, and what to address first.
We analyze your business data and interview you and your leadership team. We compare the numbers with people’s day-to-day experience, then use that picture to set priorities across the five tenets.
Can we start if our data is incomplete or scattered?
Yes. We start with what you have, check what is reliable, and identify what is missing. Founder and leadership interviews help us interpret the numbers. Improving the information you need to make decisions is part of the work.
Do we need to rebuild all of those areas?
No. We keep what works and focus on the constraints and opportunities that matter most to your goals. The diagnostic sets the priorities; the agreed scope defines the work. You do not need to rebuild all five areas.
Why does a creator-led company need a different approach?
Because the founder is both the source of demand and the person the audience trusts. Content needs to go out every week while another business sells, serves clients, hires, and manages cash.
We help both sides work together so the company can grow while you protect the creative work and relationships that made it valuable.
How is this different from a marketing or growth agency?
Agencies typically own a channel or function. Piper Ops addresses what stops that demand from becoming profitable growth: delivery problems, limited capacity, unclear decisions, or gaps in leadership.
We work alongside your specialists so demand and delivery grow together, without shifting the bottleneck back to you.
Is this just hiring a fractional COO or another operator?
No. An expert operator leads the work, but the engagement also builds the capabilities your company keeps: clear roles, decision authority, operating habits, business intelligence, and stronger leadership. Relevant specialists support the operator within the agreed scope.
Does Piper Ops implement the changes?
Yes. Your expert operator leads the agreed projects with your team, brings in relevant specialists, and checks that the changes work in practice.
Your leaders continue running their functions. We agree on responsibilities before starting and support the team as it adopts the changes, so the improvements last.
Why not install a framework or use AI?
Tools alone cannot fix unclear priorities, missing ownership, or a team that cannot follow through. Frameworks and AI can help once those foundations are in place.
We choose tools around the problem being solved and judge them by the results they produce.
What if we already know what the problems are?
That gives us a starting point. We check why the problems exist, decide what to solve first, and lead the work to fix them. Then we check that the changes hold. Naming the problem is only the beginning.
02 / Fit & ambition
The company you want to build.
Who is Piper Ops built for?
Established creator-led companies with a proven offer and an existing team. That includes educators, experts, coaches, and founders whose reputation drives demand. You have something worth growing, but the company still depends too heavily on you.
Do we have to want a bigger company?
No. You may want better profitability, a stronger client experience, more creative time, or less day-to-day involvement. We start with the company and life you want to build, then agree on what progress means for you.
What needs to be in place before we work together?
A proven business, access to your existing information, and leaders with the authority and time to make changes. Your data does not need to be perfectly organized. If you are still finding your offer or need someone to manage every task, we should discuss fit first.
03 / Working together
Who does what. And how.
What does Founder Extraction mean?
Reducing the company’s dependence on you for day-to-day decisions and coordination. We give your team clearer roles, decision authority, and operating habits so every issue does not come back to you.
Your vision, voice, and relationships remain central. You gain more choice over where you spend your time.
Does Piper Ops replace our existing team or agencies?
No. We work alongside them. Your specialists keep owning their functions. We clarify responsibilities, resolve constraints within and between teams, and help your leaders move the whole company forward.
Who will we work with?
An expert operator leads implementation with your leadership team from onboarding. Chris Piper leads the initial founder conversation and diagnostic presentation with the operator, then provides monthly strategic reviews. Relevant specialists join where the agreed scope calls for them.
What involvement will you need from us?
We start with a 90-minute founder conversation, input from your team, and access to relevant data. Then we hold a weekly leadership working session. Once a month, a strategic review replaces that week’s session. Your leaders also need time between meetings to carry out agreed changes.
How long is the engagement?
Six months for the core engagement. We begin with diagnosis and priorities, then work through implementation and adoption. The sequence is tailored to your company.
How will we know the work is making a difference?
We agree on the outcomes and starting point before making changes, then review the results. Depending on your goals, that could mean stronger profits, more reliable client delivery, leaders making decisions, or more time for your highest-value work.
We track what improves in the business and whether the team can sustain it.
04 / Practical details
Before we begin.
Do you take equity in my company?
No. We believe you should own your brand and your business. Taking equity would not align our incentives with the role we are here to play. We want everyone working in or alongside your company, including us, to have the right incentives to help you reach your goals.
Is everything included?
No. We agree on the scope before work begins. Role assessment and definition are included in the approach; recruiting and placement are scoped separately. Additional businesses, substantial custom technology, or deeper specialist work may also need a separate scope.
What happens after the engagement?
Your team keeps the capabilities we have built together. Before the engagement ends, we establish who owns the work, how results are reviewed, and how improvements are maintained. Any ongoing Piper Ops support is agreed separately around your needs.
What happens on the first call?
We discuss what you have built, where you want to go, what is holding you back, and what you have already tried. Together, we decide whether Piper Ops is a fit and what the next step should be.
